Air Freight Industry Going Greener
The airline industry is one that often gets criticised for many reasons and one of the major reasons is due to the impact it has on the environment. Creating pollution is a problem nowadays, and so that’s why the air freight industry is going greener.
The airline industry interestingly only contributes around 4% to the global atmospheric pollution. The biggest one is actually the fashion industry at 10%. However, even though the airline industry is on the lower end, there’s still work to be done to reduce its impact.
How is the air freight industry going greener?
The latest jet engines used on planes cause less pollution than previously. Budget airlines are packing more customers on planes, reducing the average passenger carbon footprint.
It’s also believed by aviation experts that a suitable alternative to fossil fuel-powered flights is on the horizon but they might not appear for another decade or so yet.
The challenges faced by the air freight industry
Whether it’s the transportation of customers or goods, there are still challenges that the airline industry faces in its battle again reducing pollution. World tourism relies on planes as a form of transport, and if planes were to just disappear tomorrow, this alone would collapse. It’s vital to acknowledge the impact that this industry has on the world’s economy. A huge amount of the world’s trades rely on it for cargo transportation.
As much as the air freight industry contributes to pollution, they certainly seem to be doing a lot more than the other influential industries are doing when it comes to polluting the earth.
